Hester Street Fair’s Lobster & Beer Summer

lobster-flyer.jpg

The idea is simple: we get a lot of beer, happy people and the best lobster the city has to offer and chill in the park for the afternoon. 2017 was our first event and it sold out in two hours so we did it again and 7,000 people came through- so come out and grab a lobster roll before they’ve all been grabbed and a $4 Old Blue Last and lie back back in the grass!

ABOUT MAYDAY:
Mayday Space is a collectively-managed organizing and social hub for grassroots groups, neighborhood residents, artists and activists from across NYC (and beyond!) to hold classes, training, meetings, film screenings, retreats, conferences, art builds, and all-ages events on an affordable sliding scale. Host your event with us and sign-up for our weekly events e-blast: http://eepurl.com/bH3Mxj

ACCESSIBILITY NOTE:
The Holiday Market will be taking place on our large 3rd floor (Great Hall) & 2nd Floor. Unfortunately, the building is old and there is no elevator to reach upper floors and gender-neutral bathrooms are located up to several steps with narrow stalls. While this is far from ideal, we can direct those in need to accessible bathrooms in the immediate vicinity in neighborhood businesses and Wyckoff Hospital around the corner. Please let us know if we can assist you in any other way.

Who Heals the Healer: The Convergence

  • Google Calendar ICS
healer.jpg

"For those who feel too much, may you guard your position as holy."

INTENTION
As tensions rise, so has the need for more healers. The waymakers, the agents of change, the ones armed with compassion.

But how many folks who step into this work have become burnt out or hurt along the way? What kind of long-term impact can we have if we don’t share the same healing methods we give to others with ourselves? How can we be a support system for others without depleting ourselves? How can we develop tools to thrive as opposed to just surviving? Who heals the healer?

A large scale conference of the event series, the intention of the convergence is to cultivate an ecosystem rooted in community care for wellness, social justice and healing practitioners who can hold space for one another as they continue to hold space for community. The curated techniques and solutions from this series will be shared widely in the form of a publication in 2018.

DETAILS
When: Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 10am-5pm
Where: Mayday Space, 176 St. Nicholas Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11237

ACCESS
The Mayday Space is a multi-level building in Bushwick. The breakout sessions will take place primarily on the second and third floor. Mayday does not have an elevator, but has two stairwells and has approximately 5-7 steps in between each floor. Mayday has gender neutral bathrooms on two levels.

COLLABORATORS
This is space is open to anyone who considers themselves to be a healer, but will center the experiences of BIPOC, WOC and QTPOC folks. If you are a co-conspirator/ally, please be mindful of this.

Multiple expressions of healers are welcome, including and not excluding; birthworkers, parents, youth workers, curators, teachers, nurses, doctors, diviners, social workers, artists, witches, energy workers, empaths, organizers, creatives, movement workers, yogis, musicians, djs, reiki practitioners, herbalists, farmers, the strong friend; and any role that calls upon someone to constantly hold space for others.

BUILD
If you're interested in being a part of this space in a more tangible way as a vendor, practitioner or volunteer - please fill out this form (http://bit.ly/2EegA91)

EXCHANGE
Donation based entry (whatever amount folks can give) which will be collected at the door. No one will be turned away due a lack of funds.
